Valorant Agent 14: Name, Exploding Clone, More Abilities, First Look & Everything We Know So Far

Riot Games will soon introduce the 14th Valorant agent that will most likely be released in Episode 2 on January 2021, and he is said to be named Shatter. Riot recently teased the upcoming agent with desktop backgrounds for players to download on the official Valorant website featuring the silhouette of man surrounded by the game's trademark numbering.

Valorant data miners also discovered a hidden image on the Valorant Instagram account in addition to the sound effects for the agent. Note that with any leak or rumor, nothing is official until confirmed, but expect Riot to officially reveal the 14th Valorant agent soon. So far, here are the details we know so far:

The Next Agent Will Be A Duelist

Riot previously confirmed that the next agent will be a Duelist, one of the four agent types (Duelists, Sentinels, Controllers, and Initiators) in Valorant. Duelists are generally aggressive fraggers who their team expects, through abilities and skills, to seek engagements and get high frags. Currently, there are 4 Duelists, 3 Initiators, 3 Sentinels, and 3 Controllers in the tactical shooter.

"The year will tear open with a Duelist for all you ‘lurkers' out there, who will keep you on your toes around which angles are truly safe," wrote John Goscicki, Character Producer of Valorant. Compared to other Duelists like Jett, Phoenix, and Reyna, Shatter will be sneakier than all of them.

Shatter - First Look at His Appearance

First images of Shatter have been discovered during Riot's string of blog posts and Instagram stories. Leakers found images of the agent embedded Riot's social media videos, as well as in a video tweeted from the official Brazilian Valorant account.

There are also material files for the game that are wrapped around the agent models. Shatter is shown to be clad in purple, and it looks as though he will join Omen and Rena as another agent employed by Valorant's mysterious Kingdom Corporation.

Shatter's Abilities: Exploding Clone, Flashbangs & More Abilities

Since Shatter is a Duelist, his abilities are expected to put him in an advantageous position to initiate fights and pave the way for his team's attacks. Valorant data miners found audio related to Shatter's clone ability early on in the game's open beta, and more files revealed that the 14th agent has flashbang grenades and the ability to clone himself.

Leakers also claim that he has an ability that affects the amount of sound his footsteps make, so it looks like the new agent will be able to surprise the enemy team with this ability. Valorant players seemingly discovered a potential in-game Easter Egg on Dec. 8 showing footsteps of an invisible person walking on Icebox, so this could suggest that Shatter might have the ability to make himself invisible for a limited amount of time.

Considering the power levels of the abilities leakers found, the exploding clone ability is probably Shatter's ultimate. We still don't know if the clone is controlled by AI or placed by Shatter, but it's likely his clone will either have limited movement or be stationary as Shatter lurks around his enemies. Shatter's clone may be able to kamikaze to a specific location controlled by A.I.

Riot Games hasn't officially revealed when they will add the 14th Valorant agent or if their name is actually "Shatter" but since the Episode 2 is expected to arrive in January, expect it around that date. Shatter's reveal may also kick off in Riot and Amazon's Twitch's online music festival, WWFEST, as the new agent can be seen lurking behind Valorant's other agents in the festival's branding (shown above). WWFEST is set to begin on Jan. 15.

Riot has previously announced that we can expect to see three new Agents within each Episode, with one releasing when a new Act drops (roughly every two months).
