It has been nearly two years since the first teaser was released, and now, Ice Adolescence might be facing production issues. Recently, fans noticed that the upcoming Yuri on Ice movie is no longer listed in the Coming Soon section of the MAPPA website.

This was spotted by @yoi_updates on Twitter where an image was shared of the MAPPA website having only two upcoming projects in the Works tab.

These projects include the Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku TV anime and the Alice and Therese's Illusion Factory movie.

About Yuri on Ice

In case you’re unfamiliar, Yuri on Ice is an original anime series by MAPPA that was released in 2016.

It was directed and written by Sayo Yamamoto, a renowned anime director who has worked on Michiko & Hatchin as well as Lupin the Third: The Woman Called Fujiko Mine.

Yuri on Ice follows Yuri Katsuki, a Japanese figure skater who returns to his family home to think about his figure skating future.

He was once Japan’s most promising figure skater, but his confidence was rocked after a defeat at the Grand Prix Finale.

Now aged 23, Yuri is contemplating whether he should continue his career as his window in skating is closing.

He is brought back to the ice when five-time world champion Victor Nikiforov offers to be his mentor.

The series was well-received by critics and fans alike. It was also a big hit in the figure skating community for its accuracy as well as its loveable cast of characters.

While the series was praised, it did not receive a sequel. Though in 2017, an original film was announced.

In 2018, its full title, Yuri on Ice the Movie: Ice Adolescence, was revealed at a concert event for the series.

Then in November 2020, the first teaser was released worldwide.

Since then, MAPPA hasn’t revealed any new trailers for the upcoming movie.

While there was an update earlier this year, now that the film has seemingly been removed from MAPPA’s website, fans are fearing that the upcoming movie has been canceled.

Of course, there’s no official word yet on whether the anime film is indeed canceled.

However, it remains to be seen if this is just an error on the website or if the studio has faced some troubles in the production of the upcoming movie.
