Yuri On Ice Movie Drops New Key Visual, Production Update from MAPPA

It has been a long time since we got any updates on Yuri on Ice the Movie: Ice Adolescence but that doesn't mean the highly anticipated film has been in hibernation. A new key visual from the new anime movie has just been dropped and it takes inspiration from the Beijing Winter Olympics. In addition to that, MAPPA has shared a new update on the upcoming project!

The new Yuri on Ice key visual is another collaboration with Mizuno, the Japanese sportswear brand, and MAPPA, the studio that will produce the film. The image features Yuri Katsuki, Victor Nikiforov, Yurio (Yuri Plisetsky), and Otabek Altin on the practice rink at the Beijing Winter Olympics. Not surprisingly, the new key visual was dropped to commemorate the anime's fifth year of broadcasting. Check it out below.

That's not the only awesome update from the Yuri on Ice movie. The film's official website also shared a statement from MAPPA confirming that production is still ongoing.

"The production of YURI!!! On Ice the Movie: Ice Adolescence is still ongoing with the aim of further enriching the film. However, we have not yet reached the stage where we can announce the release date," the statement reads.

"Our team will continue to work diligently to deliver a film and share our unwavering love and dedication for skating. We deeply apologize to all fans for the circumstance and ask for your generous understanding," it concludes.

This might not be the news fans were hoping for but it's still great to know that MAPPA is dedicated to perfecting the movie before making any announcements. Hopefully, we'll be getting a new update in the next few months.

Yuri on Ice the Movie: Ice Adolescence will bring back the primary production staff who worked on the anime including series creators Sayo Yamamoto as director and Mitsuro Kubo as the screenwriter. The film has not yet been given an official release date. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
