Universal Hoping to Nab Deadpool 2 Director David Leitch for Kung Fu Remake

It looks like Universal Pictures is hoping to nab a pretty big name actor for the reboot of its classic action-adventure martial arts western drama, Kung Fu.

According to a report by ComicBook.com, Universal is hoping to tap David Leitch, the director of films like Deadpool 2, Atomic Blonde, Fast and Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw, for the reboot of its classic television series. The project doesn't really have a cast or writer in place just yet, however, Universal is also looking to get a screen writer on top of Leitch.

While it might seem like Universal's aiming too high by hoping to bring Leitch in for the Kung Fu reboot, we're certain that Marvel fans and action movie fans would like to see the Deadpool director handle the project. Leitch has a pretty great handle of action beats in movies – take a look at Atomic Blond, Hobbs and Shaw, as well as John Wick, a movie that the filmmaker co-directed with Chad Stahelski.

Not only that, but Leitch is also in place to helm the remake of Bruce Lee's 1973 classic action movie, Enter the Dragon.

Leitch would be the perfect fit for the Kung Fu reboot.

For those who aren't familiar with the show, Kung Fu featured David Carradine Kwang Chang Caine a master of martial arts who decided to flee from China after his master was killed in the country. In the series, Caine wanders the old west, helping out people in need all the while deal with racism, assassins, and all sort of other villains.

The Kung Fu reboot has yet to receive a release date, but when it does we'll let everyone know.
