Even though it's only had one movie, some novels, and a couple of comics, James Cameron's Avatar is still considered a big franchise by many. After all, the movie was the highest-grossing film worldwide at one point, though it was eventually beaten by Avengers: Endgame, which had to extend its theater run to do so. Anyway, fans have been waiting for more details about the recently-announced Avatar video game from Ubisoft.
Speaking with ScreenRant, Ubisoft assured fans that it was still in development but they can't say anything else aside from that. It looks like this game is meant to be a secret so we might be able to expect some big lore moments, assuming that it's connected to the movie in any way. We'll have to wait and see if the game is going to be good but knowing Ubisoft, it will probably be open-world.
Prior to this new game, there was an actual Avatar game for the sixth generation of consoles, though it did not get a lot of attention for obvious reasons. The game was a mediocre tie-in that didn't really do a lot to differentiate itself from other games, though it wasn't exactly broken garbage. Still, Ubisoft might be able to make their Avatar game feel different now that they're considered to be an AAA studio.
No release date for Ubisoft's Avatar game has been revealed.
