TWD Creator Robert Kirkman Is Going To Have Heavy Involvement In The Rick Grimes Movie Trilogy

The Walking Dead fans have nothing to worry about the upcoming Rick Grimes television movie trilogy because it looks like comic book creator and series executive producer Robert Kirkman is actually going to be "heavily involved" with the upcoming project.

The New York Times just recently approached AMC chief content officer Scott Gimple to talk about the Andrew Lincoln-led trilogy, and during the discussion with the news outlet, the screenwriter of the first Rick Grimes movie said that Kirkman would have heavy involvement in the films.

According to Gimple, these movies won't be "longer episodes" of the series but instead, tell an original story about Rick Grimes with much better production values compared to AMC's popular The Walking Dead television series.

This is definitely exciting news for fans. Lincoln's Rick Grimes might have been the central character of the series, but the former sheriff deputy was made to exit the series despite keeping the character among the living.

Grime's exit was heavily marketed by AMC, the network going as far as branding the first half of The Walking Dead's ninth season as "Rick Grime's Final Episodes" back in September as part of the final wave of advertising before the new batch of episode's premiere in October.

The character was a big part of The Walking Dead and the network didn't want to shock the fanbase too much with his exit.

Now, it looks like fans can sit down and relax knowing that Rick has an upcoming television movie trilogy for everyone to see.

AMC is hoping to begin the production of the first Walking Dead movie this 2019.
