Thirteen years after the release of the second film, Disney is finally moving forward with the third Tron film titled Tron: Ares as it is heading to production very soon after years of development.

Oscar-winning actor Jared Leto is set to be the lead of the film this time around and he was recently joined by Evan Peters and Greta Lee. However, there is no confirmation yet whether Jeff Bridges will be making his return to the franchise.

Now, we have yet again another new casting update on the film and they have recruited one of the most prominent breakthrough actresses in the last couple of years.

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Queen & Slim and The Acolyte star Jodie Turner-Smith is joining the cast of Tron: Ares. She is the fourth actor to have been recruited following Leto, Peters, and Lee.

The details regarding the role that Turner-Smith will play in the film are being kept under wraps at the moment.

Joachim Rønning is directing the film. It is scheduled to begin production in Vancouver this August although the ongoing writers' strike could potentially prevent that.

The third film, which is written by Jesse Wigutow and Jack Thorne, will focus on "the emergence of a sentient program that crosses over into the human world that is not ready for contact."

Leto will be playing the role of Ares, the manifestation of the program. The film will also differ from the previous installments since they were largely set inside the world of computers and programs.

Turner-Smith's casting in the film comes as she also recently joined the cast of the upcoming Star Wars series The Acolyte so this will not be her first rodeo in a Disney franchise. She also recently starred in the Netflix films White Noise and Murder Mystery 2.

As we've seen in a couple of previous works that she did, Turner-Smith is a great actress and it is curious to see how she'll fare well with the other actors who are also part of the cast as well as whether she will be in the good or bad side.
