The first trailer for Netflix and Rooster Teeth's Transformers: War for Cybertron has arrived and it is gorgeous-looking. Convolutedly called Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege, not only that but it also looks like we'll be getting a quality story filled with drama and heartbreak as we see the Autobots and Decepticons, or, if we're being realistic, Optimus Prime and Megatron, do what they have to for Cybertron's interest.
What's surprising about the trailer is that things aren't as black and white as they were in the ā80s, which should make plenty of people happy.
From what we've gathered in the trailer, Cybertron appears to be in ruins after years of war between the Autobots and Decepticons. As with all wars, pride and ego have corrupted both Optimus and Megatron, with the former actually getting into disagreements with Bumblebee, while the latter uses his natural charisma to put blame on the opposition, which works. It's really good stuff and this is coming from a non-Transformers fan.
Unsurprisingly, the story is all about that damn Allspark since that seems to be the go-to MacGuffin for this franchise but the fact that it focuses on Cybertron and other Transformers already makes it a step-up from the Michael Bay films. Siege is only the beginning, giving us six episodes for the first of this trilogy with future titles likely to have the same episode count.
Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege will be coming to Netflix soon.
