Transformers’ Bumblebee Spinoff Gets New Logo

Michael Bay has officially bowed out of the Transformers franchise with his entry of The Last Knight, and a new director is taking the reigns for a spinoff movie focusing on everyone's favorite yellow autobot, Bumblebee. Check out the movie's official logo:

The logo was originally shared by actress Hailee Steinfeld who is playing the lead in the movie, but it looks like the post had been removed from her Instagram. Luckily enough, Transformers World 2005 was able to nab a screenshot.

The movie will be directed by Kubo and the Two Strings' Travis Knight and will serve as a prequel to Micahel Bay's Transformers series. Here, Bumblebee will be his original transformation of a Volkswagen Beetle, and Steinfeld's character is said to be a young mechanic.

Here's the official synopsis:

The story is set in the year 1987, where Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

Though Bay's Transformers series has been going on for a while, they haven't really done well critically. Hopefully this change in directors will get more people interested in checking out the film. Maybe having less transformers and explosions could do this movie some good.

Bumblebee The Movie is slated for a release on Dec. 21, 2018.
