Tom Holland Ready to Step Down as Spider-Man

There is little doubt that Tom Holland is doing a great job at playing Spider-Man. After all, he has the acrobatic skills, boyish looks, and amazing talent to easily take on the role of Peter Parker. But is he ready to step down from his star-making role? The Spider-Man: No Way Home star revealed that he has no issues with being replaced by a new actor who could play the web-slinger!

Tom Holland debuted as Peter Parker in Captain America: Civil War and although he only appeared briefly in the movie, fans instantly fell in love with the young Spider-Man. So it's no surprise that the first two Spider-Man films have been major blockbusters. It's a role that any actor would love to play and although Holland wants to keep playing Peter, he's also accepted that he can't play Spider-Man forever.

Holland is currently promoting No Way Home in London where he told the Associated Press that he's willing to play Spider-Man for a long time but wants what's best for the character.

"I love this character more than anything. This character has changed my life," Holland said. "I have a relationship with my fans that is so wonderful and I couldn't ask for it to be any better, but I want to do what's best for the character."

But what if it means having to retire the Spider-Man suit? "If it's time for me to step down and the next person to step up, I'll do so proudly," Holland said.

Of course, that doesn't mean that Tom Holland will no longer play Spider-Man after No Way Home. It has been confirmed that Sony Pictures still has big plans for the character being played by Holland. Nevertheless, in the far far future, there will come a time when a new Spider-Man will rise.

You can still catch Tom Holland as Peter Parker in Spider-Man: No Way Home, which hits theaters on December 17, 2021.
