Tom Holland On What Makes His Spider-Man More Interesting Than Tobey Maguire’s

There have been quite a number of live-action Spider-Men in the past two decades, and while Tobey Maguire's take on the wall-crawler has been considered a classic, fans have fallen in love with Tom Holland's version of the Marvel hero, calling him the most comic book accurate Spider-Man in live-action history.

The Marvel star thinks so as well, saying that his version of Spider-Man is just more interesting than McGuire's.

GQ just recently wrote a profile on Holland, and to add to the media blitz, the publication decided to do a video where the Spider-Man: Far From Home star goes undercover to answer questions from fans on social media sites like Reddit, YouTube, and Twitter.

"Because it makes me more interesting, I guess," Holland said when asked by a fan why his character was much more naive compared to Maguire's Spider-Man, "It gives me more room to grow. If you start out a badass, there's nowhere to go. I don't know."

Of course, some would argue that Spider-Man creators Steve Ditko and Stan Lee always wrote Peter Parker to be a young and witty web-swinging hero. That was why fans fell in love with Holland's version of Spider-Man. His version of Spidey seemed much closer to the source material than Maguire's. But then again, everyone has different taste. Perhaps this fan, in particular, grew up watching Maguire's Spider-Man movies. There's no harm in that at all.
