Superior Spider-Man Makes His Animated Debut in Marvel's Spider-Man Season 2 Promo

Superior Spider-Man was one of the best Marvel comics in recent memory, deconstructing the Spider-Man formula while also providing some entertaining and chilling stories that stay with its readers to this day. This is why fans are interested to see the Disney XD series tackle the story in Marvel's Spider-Man Season 2, which will have Otto Octavius take over Peter Parker's body and assume the role of Spider-Man without his friends and loved ones knowing.

Like the popular comic book it's based on, Otto's methods have their ups and downs. While Otto is taking down crime and making the streets safer, he is also damaging the relationships Peter has built with characters like Gwen Stacy, Miles Morales, and Iron Man. While it won't last as long as it did in the comics (they already confirmed Peter returning in Maximum Venom), seeing how Otto handles his foe's relationships is going to be interesting.

Lasting 30+ issues, Dan Slott's Superior Spider-Man was a delight and is something any Marvel fan should check out when they can. While the new series from Christos Gage isn't a bad one, it is lacking in meaningful surprises, especially since Peter and Otto co-exist as superheroes in the same universe. It's still worth reading though, especially if you are a fan of Gage's recent event Spider-Geddon.

While I'm not a fan of the animation style, this season does look intriguing. Hopefully, it will be worth checking out.

Marvel's Spider-Man Season 2 debuts on Disney XD on September 8.
