Tom Holland Confirms Zendaya’s Return as MJ in Spider-Man 3

It's official. Zendaya is returning to reprise her role as MJ in Marvel's third Spider-Man movie.

Speaking in an interview with The Philippine Daily Inquirer (via IGN), Marvel's Spider-Man star Tom Holland revealed that his Spider-Man: Home Alone and Spider-Man: Far From Home co-star Zendaya would be returning in the third Spider-Man movie.

"I'm super happy about it. We will be shooting Spider-Man 3 in July in Atlanta," Holland told the news publication, teasing fans about the new movie by saying that the story is going to be "absolutely insane."

Zendaya's return shouldn't really come as a surprise to Marvel fans. By the end of Far From Home, MJ and Peter managed to develop a romantic relationship that we hope is going to last a little bit longer than Ned's (Jacob Batalon) short-lived romance with Betty (Angourie Rice) during the class school trip in Europe.

MJ took on a more prominent role in Far From Home, and so we can only assume that the character is going to continue playing a significant role in the next Spider-Man movie. That is, unless Marvel decides to have MJ cut off ties with Peter.

We can only wonder what MJ's future is going to be in Marvel's Spider-Man film franchise now that Disney's formed a new deal with Sony. Will MJ be a presence in Sony's Universe of Marvel Characters, or will she remain in Marvel? Let's wait and see.

Spider-Man 3 is set to premiere on July 16, 2021. Phase 4 of the MCU begins when Black Widow premieres on May 1, 2020.
