Tom Hardy Teases Venom vs. Spider-Man in Now-Deleted IG Post

Peter Parker was supposed to make a cameo in the standalone Venom film before Disney requested that it was pulled out. Now with Sony set to connect with the MCU with Morbius, it looks like Venom 2 is going to be doing the same.

Hardy had posted this photo on his IG before deleting it, depicting a clash between Spider-Man and Venom. Check it out:

While we know that Spider-Man is going to be referenced in Morbius, we have no idea how Peter Parker will be connected to Venom: Let There Be Carnage. While I expect something like another reference in the background, I'm thinking that Sony wants to finally give Holland an appearance in their Spider-Verse films.

Personally, I think Sony really slipped up by giving an origin to Venom that isn't connected to Spider-Man. Heck, if they really cooperated with Marvel, they could have said that the symbiote had come from one of Thanos' ships in Wakanda; even his ‘outriders' kind of resembled Venom already.

Though I'm open to a shake-up in the story, I really think it's essential that the Venom symbiote gets connected to Spider-Man somehow. That way, we get the black suit Spider-Man, and we can establish the rivalry between Eddie brock and Peter Parker. And of course, Venom can never really be Venom unless we get that classic white spider logo on his chest.

For now, Venom: Let There Be Carnage is set to hit theaters June 25, 2021.
