Todd Phillips' Joker Casts Alfred and Bruce Wayne

We know that Todd Phillips' Joker movie is going to put the spotlight on the Clown Prince of Crime, but we didn't know just how close to the Batman mythos the film was going to be. We know that Thomas Wayne will appear in the movie, but news has come out that the production had just cast a young Bruce Wayne as well as Alfred.

As per ComicBook, Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful, The Night Manager) has been cast as the Wayne family butler while Dante Pereira-Olson has been cast as a young Bruce Wayne. Interestingly enough, Pereira-Olson has shared a film with star Joaquin Phoenix, having starred in You Were Never Really Here.

I didn't really expect the film to give us too much of Thomas Wayne, much less give us an appearance from Alfred or Bruce. I guess that we would be seeing more of Alfred in the movie, knowing that Thomas Wayne plays a part; and we'll only get one or two glimpses of tiny Bruce Wayne.

Todd Philipps' Joker is setting up to be one interesting movie. Though the next two installments in the DCEU are your usual big-budget spectacles, Joker promises to tell a smaller, gritty story. What's more, this will be the first movie from WB to take place outside of the established DCEU timeline; so for anyone thinking that they replaced Jared Leto—sorry to disappoint.

Joker is set to come out on Oct. 4, 2019.
