Todd McFarlane Confirms February 2018 Production For Spawn Reboot

Back in July, Spawn creator Todd McFarlane giddily announced the news that he had just signed on with Jason Blum's Blumhouse studio to produce his Spawn reboot movie.

Now it looks like the film is finally getting set for production, with principal photography scheduled for February 2018.

Speaking at this year's New York Comic Con (via Deadline), McFarlane told fans that his Spawn reboot would start on pre-production right after Christmas so that principal photography could start during February next year, promising fans that he'd post daily updates on Facebook once the reboot started filming.

Claiming that the film would be "dark and R-rated," the comic book writer also promised that Spawn wouldn't be the standard superhero movie, saying that its grit would be taken from realistic drama centered on fear.

"I will have a shark in black water," Mcfarlane said metaphorically, "and if you're swimming he will come and you'll be gone and he will f*ck you up."

Mcfarlane also said that the film wouldn't be the same kind of R-rated like Deadpool, which to the comic book creator was simply a film "with a couple of F-bombs and a couple of bare asses."

Given Mcfarlane's description, we're probably going to expect something as dark and gritty and serious as Logan, but we won't really know until we see the trailers and the film itself.

Spawn doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll let you know as soon as we get word.
