To Your Eternity Season 2 Episode 1: First Impressions
Based on Yoshitoki Ooima's manga of the same name, Fumetsu no Anata E (or To Your Eternity in English) follows a mysterious immortal creature who was sent to Earth to evolve through emotional stimulation.
Starting life as an orb, the creature soon turns into a wolf, then a shapeshifting boy.
The boy's name is Fushi, which means "immortal," and his journey is both beautiful and heartbreaking.
As Fushi comes across more living beings (both humans and animals), he grows, acquires languages, understands relationships, and discovers all the blessings and growing pains associated with love.
Whenever someone close to him dies, Fushi gains the ability to acquire their form and use it whenever needed.
But carrying one's favorite people becomes hard work after a while, and being the only immortal one around is heartbreaking for both Fushi and the audience!
Indeed, the beginning of Season 2 finds Fushi much changed after all his painful experiences.
Not wanting any other loved ones to die because of the Nokkers' endless pursuit of him, Fushi is now a permanent resident on the island he and Pioran once shared.
Much to Fushi's shock, Nokkers still strike against innocents, but it was too far for him to arrive on time.
Soon after this devastating event, Hisame, a young girl, appears and hugs Fushi, claiming to be Hayase's reincarnation.
As it turns out, Hisame is Hayase's granddaughter, who was born after the latter's death. Hayase had told her daughter that she was to be reborn in her womb.
To Fushi's confusion and frustration, his creator agrees with the theory, pointing out that a soul is free to go anywhere after death, thus validating the possibility of Hayase's reincarnation.
The next day, Fushi and Hisame head to the village where the Nokkers attacked.
While interacting with some people in the village, Fushi comes across a mysterious woman who turns out to be his old friend, Tonari.
