To Every You I’ve Loved Before is a sci-fi anime film that was released alongside a sister film titled To Me, The One Who Loved You.

The first film follows Koyomi Takasaki, a boy that’s struggling to make friends after his parents’ divorce.

He soon meets Kazune Takigawa, a girl who reveals that she’s from an alternate world.

In Kazune's alternate world line, she and Koyomi are lovers. Though lines between dimensions soon get blurred.

This movie was animated by Bakken Record, a label under Tatsunoko Production, the studio behind shows such as Psycho-Pass 2 and Pole Princess!!.

It’s a bit difficult to explain this movie’s story given the dimension-hopping that happens, but based on its premise, it’s a film that should catch the attention of anime fans who are into a story with heavy sci-fi elements.

While the film stands alone story-wise, its sister movie To Me, The One Who Loved You is a companion piece that’s meant to be watched either before or after To Every You I’ve Loved Before.

Though the first movie features only one dimension-hopper, To Me, The One Who Loved You follows two lovers who can travel between dimensions.

Specifically, the film follows a different Koyomi who is the lover of Shiori Sato.

Their budding romance is put into jeopardy as Koyomi’s father and Shiori’s mother also fall in love and decide to get married.

To avoid becoming stepsiblings, the two decide to run away into a parallel universe.

While traveling to another universe is common in their world, they soon face repercussions.

Without giving details away, there is a degree of crossover between these two parallel films. Though interestingly, they are designed so you can watch either film first.

Unlike the first movie, To Me, The One Who Loved You is animated by TMS Entertainment, the studio behind Dr. Stone and Rent-A-Girlfriend, among others.

Both movies will stream on Crunchyroll beginning today in North America, Central America, South America, Europe, Africa, Oceania, CIS, and India.
