Marvel Studios is currently in pre-production for the Thunderbolts movie as they are set to begin filming later this year. For the past couple of months, we've been hearing several updates about the film including the return of beloved MCU characters from past movies and TV shows in the franchise.
While the film will focus on the returning MCU characters as the main members of the titular team, they are also expected to feature new characters that may tag along during the film. However, the plot details still remain unknown at this point as to how it will also play in the overall arc of the Multiverse Saga.
Now, it looks like the film has recruited another actor to its growing ensemble as Deadline has confirmed that The Walking Dead and Nope star Steven Yeun is joining the cast of Thunderbolts. However, the details regarding the role that he is playing in the film remain under wraps for now.
The report did reveal that the Oscar-nominated actor's character will not just be significant during the film, but it is also expected to be pivotal in the future of the MCU moving forward.
Yeun is joining the cast that already includes Sebastian Stan, Florence Pugh, Wyatt Russell, Olga Kurylenko, David Harbour, Hannah John-Kamen, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, and Ayo Edebiri. Jake Schreier is directing the film while Black Widow writer Eric Pearson is penning the screenplay.
It is certainly exciting to see that Yeun is going to be part of the MCU since he is a talented actor as proven by his Oscar-nominated work in Minari and his long-running role in The Walking Dead. He also recently starred in the Jordan Peele film Nope and is also part of the upcoming Bong Joon-ho film Mickey 17.
There are fans who are speculating that perhaps Yeun will be playing Sentry, who is rumored to be one of the main characters of the film. It remains unknown whether it is the case, but the possibility is certainly there since the report suggests that he is playing an important character and Sentry certainly fits that.
