Thor: Love and Thunder brought in a massive preview night domestic box office putting it on the fifth spot of MCU's highest movie openings and second for this year but there's another Marvel movie ahead of it: Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
A lot of Marvel fans flocked the theaters for the fourth solo film of the God of Thunder, Thor: Love and Thunder, and the movie brought in an impressive preview night with a domestic box office earning of $29 million making it the fifth-highest in the MCU and second-highest this year as reported by Variety.
However, another Marvel movie remains ahead of Thor: Love and Thunder when it comes to these numbers. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness remains on top as the highest opening box office hit of this year with $36 million up its sleeve.
Thor: Love and Thunder will be following the God of Thunder who, after 1500 years of fighting, looks for another purpose to live after all the losses he suffered. His journey of self-discovery, however, was put to a halt when Gorr the God Butcher arrived, a villain who vowed to kill all gods.
Thor: Love and Thunder marks the debut of Jane Foster as the Mighty Thor, and while she already appeared in the MCU, this time, she becomes a heroine, wielding the Mjolnir which is now reforged, possibly pieced together after Hela broke it in Thor: Ragnarok.
With Jane being the Mighty Thor, the God of Thunder gets into a quest to stop Gorr from eradicating the gods but at what cost? Thor: Love and Thunder marks the return of King Valkyrie, the Guardians of the Galaxy, Korg, Miek, and Jane Foster.
