Thor: Love and Thunder Has No Plans to Release Deleted Scenes Involving Removed Characters

While Thor: Love and Thunder featured several MCU characters that we know and love, there were supposed to be more characters in the film that ended up being left on the cutting room floor. A lot of fans are wondering whether they will see them in the deleted scenes once the film is out on home video. However, as it turns out, it looks like we may never see them in the light of day.

In a recent interview with Insider, director Taika Waititi explained the reason why the scenes involving Jeff Goldblum, Peter Dinklage, and Lena Headey ended up being removed from the film even though they might be "the most funniest thing or intriguing thing."

"I wrote the thing so when you cut anything it's a little bit of a challenge to yourself because you're like, "Am I not that good? Should I have seen this coming?," Waititi said. "But every film I've done I've probably cut the same amount out. When you go into the edit you just never know. A scene on its own could be the most funniest thing or intriguing thing, but sometimes those things if you keep them in will just make the movie screech to a halt. So you have to do what's best for the film."

He continued, "And if you ask any of those actors who were cut out — Jeff Goldblum, Lena Headey, Peter Dinklage — they all understand how it works. They have been in the game long enough. But that's just the way I look at things. "

When asked if there's a chance that we will ever see the deleted scenes involving the three actors, Waititi quickly shoots down the idea as he iterates that they were "not good enough" for the public to see.

"I'm not going to give you a moment because this is my way of telling you, like, people say, 'I can't wait for the deleted scenes with those actors.'," Waititi noted. "I don't want people to see the deleted scenes because they're deleted for a reason: They aren't good enough. [Laughs.] The scenes were not in the movie and that's it."

It might be disappointing to hear that Marvel and Waititi have no plans to release the deleted scenes since it would have been great to see what the three actors' appearances would have looked like. At the same, it is understandable why they decided not to release them since they might also change some people's perspective on the film.

Who knows, we might see those three actors in a future MCU project again, especially Dinklage and Goldblum, who are already playing established characters. As for Headey, maybe we can see her show up as her original Thor: Love and Thunder character or another role instead.
