Game of Thrones Star Lena Headey Sued Over Cut Thor: Love and Thunder Role

Game of Thrones star Lena Headey is currently being sued by her former agency, Troika, for $1.5 million over several unpaid commission fees. These fees include the upcoming MCU film Thor: Love and Thunder, in which Headey was cast but had her scenes cut from the film. Troika, now branded as YMU, claims that Headey specifically owes them a minimum of half a million dollars for the MCU film.

Her involvement with Thor: Love and Thunder was never advertised nor officially announced, but Variety confirmed that she did have a role in the original script by director Taika Waititi. As of now, the details of her role remain unknown.

Lena Headey’s cut role is one of the several A-listers that were removed from Thor: Love and Thunder’s final cut. Star Christian Bale, who plays Gorr the God Butcher in the film, recently revealed that Thor: Ragnarok and Jurassic World: Dominion star Jeff Goldblum as well as Headey’s Game of Thrones co-star Peter Dinklage were cut from the film.

"I got to work with Peter Dinklage, that's not in the final film, but I got to work with him," Bale said in a recent interview with Prensaescenario. "He's fantastic. I got to work with Jeff Goldblum, he's not in the final film either. As you see lots of stuff ends up on the cutting room floor, even though it is beautiful, brilliant stuff."

Headey has rebutted the claims of her former agency, saying that she never signed a contract with Troika/YMU or Michael Duff, the co-founder of the said agency. Duff was also Headey’s personal representative. Headey even claimed that her partnership with Michael Duff was no more than a verbal agreement between them.

The former Cersei Lannister star pushed back on Troika/YMU’s claim to Thor 4 commission because she claims that opportunity was presented to her by Waititi himself. Headey also claimed that her other film, 9 Bullets, was negotiated without the help of her agency or Duff. As for her other project, Rita, Headey claims that she had already paid the agency $22,750 of her $325,000 earnings from the single episode the show lasted.

The representatives for both Headey and Marvel were reached out to by Variety but did not respond to the request for comment as of the time of writing. Troika/YMU was also reached out to as well as lawyers for the agency and Headey but also hasn’t released a statement regarding the issue.
