This is How Logan Took That Mature Direction

Sacrifice is always necessary to get the best project one can have. We've seen this in the case of Deadpool, where a decade's worth of Ryan Reynolds' perseverance gave us one of the biggest hits tagged with an R-rating can be in superhero world.

Now, another movie is shaping up in the same direction, so it's not a surprise that Reynolds himself is dead set on having a collaboration crossover with the movie. Logan, the final film for X-Men's Wolverine, has been labeled with an R-rating—but the Australian actor himself had made this possible with a pay cut.

According to a tweet by Ain't it Cool's Eric Vespe (via Screenrant), Hugh Jackman had opted for a salary cut so that he can achieve a vision for Logan.

The R-rating was announced following the unveiling of the first trailer for the movie. The tone of the trailer alone was enough proof that this is far from the kind of superhero film you have. Gritty and raw, there's something that gives Logan a very heavy tone that's far from the treatment that even the likes of DC's current film offerings bring to the table.

The pay cut is supposedly a good way for the film to up its rating. From a financial standpoint, this would be necessary, since R-rated films are not a guaranteed success. Deadpool was an exception, but even that was unexpected. Whether or not the same can actually happen to Logan remains to be seen.

Logan will be out in theaters on March 3, 2017.
