Mass Effect: Andromeda is Getting a Novel Trilogy

BioWare is ready to expound on the lore and legend behind the Mass Effect: Andromeda through a trilogy of novels set to be released next year.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Creative Director Mac Walters and Producer Fabrice Condominas touched on the upcoming novels. They hinted the trilogy holds a number of clues pointing to the events in Mass Effect: Andromeda.

The first novel, titled Nexus Uprising, appear to be pointing to a kind of outpost that players can build on planets, provided that the location is able to meet a set of criteria.

Mass Effect: Andromeda doesn't have a release date as of yet, but that hasn't stopped speculation as to when the game may arrive. One clue that the source pursued is the possibility of March release date, seeing as how the novel trilogy is set to come in that timeframe.

"The first novel which comes out is more about setting up the backstory of certain factors at the point when Ryder arrives in the galaxy. The reason I don't want to get into story stuff is, honestly, these things are better played or in this case read."

This may be Walters' indirect way of saying that the game won't necessarily come out during that timeframe, but that the trilogy of novels itself is a good read during the waiting time.

The Mass Effect: Andromeda is a partnership project with Titan Books. The originally four-book project has been cut to a trilogy, thanks to the team's and Walters' focus now becoming the game itself instead of the side project books.

For now, only the release dates of the books are being hinted, with the first one arriving on March 28, 2017. The second novel, Mass Effect: Annihilation, will be released in summer while the last book, Mass Effect: Initiation will be out come fall 2017.
