Thirty-Nine needs to temporarily be away from their viewers next week.

The new JTBC show, which only began airing on February 16, completes the viewers’ nights every Wednesday and Thursday. It features Son Ye Jin, Jeon Mi Do, and Kim Ji Hyun.

Thirty-Nine tells the story of three friends’ friendship, life, and romance before they turn 40-years-old. Son Ye Jin plays the role of Cha Mi Jo, a 39-year-old dermatologist in Gangnam. Meanwhile, Kim Ji Hyun scored Jang Joo Hee’s role, a cosmetics manager at a department store, while Jeon Mi Do takes on Jeong Chan Young’s character.

Though the story continues to unfold since its premiere, the series’ fans and viewers need to hold back for a week as it announced the postponement of the following two episodes due to South Korea’s important event.

Thirty-Nine to Skip Airing Next Week

On Friday, JTBC announced that Thirty-Nine would not air new episodes this week to give way to South Korea’s presidential election.

Usually, the drama airs every Wednesday and Thursday. Though it will not air its new episodes on March 8 and 9, the network promised to release a special broadcast that will serve as a recap of the previous episodes.

Thirty-Nine will release the new episodes starting the following week, giving episode 7 a March 16 release.

Despite skipping this week’s schedule, the series managed to push its viewership ratings and recorded a higher point for its March 3 episode. Previously, the drama lost 2 percent on its points, leaving them with 5.5 percent on March 2.

But after releasing its sixth episode, the drama found its way back with a 7 percent viewership rating.

Thirty-Nine Broke One of its Rules

Amid the rising success of the series, fans noticed that the drama also broke a cardinal rule in its episode 2. For what it’s worth, Mi Jo monologued that someone close to them would die.

The funeral portrait that turns the tables during its early days is of Chan Young. Thirty-Nine already revealed that the drama would see the character’s death in the end. It is considered unusual for the viewers since K-drama series usually hides the twist until midway through the drama.

Thirty-Nine surely has its reason for showing one of its plot twists, and fans might learn the reason why in the next episodes.
