The Witcher Showrunner Breaks Silence on Henry Cavill Exit

It seems like everyone has had a lot to say about Henry Cavill's departure from The Witcher. However, those who are involved in the Netflix series have been keeping quiet about the exit for some time now. But now, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich has broken her silence about Cavill leaving the show.

Lauren Schmidt Hissrich is currently promoting The Witcher: Blood Origin but she also addressed Henry Cavill leaving the main series. While speaking with TechRadar, Hissrich admitted that the exit affected the cast and crew.

"It's a big deal for us, too," Hissrich said. "And that's the thing – there's a lot of talk and rumors about and we fully understand why fans are going there. What I will say is please come back for The Witcher season three so that we can continue to do this."

She then pointed out that although the departure is a big deal, Hissrich wants to make sure that it doesn't overshadow the spin-off series created by Declan de Barra.

"Obviously, that is huge news. But what I don't want to do is – this has to stay about Blood Origin, Declan, the cast, and the crew. This is their time in the spotlight," Hissrich said.

There is little doubt that what happened with Cavill is a huge blow to The Witcher but it is clear that Hissrich and the cast and crew are determined to move forward with the show. In the meantime, Cavill is set to return as Geralt of Rivia one last time next year before we get to meet Liam Hemsworth's version of the character in Season 4.

The Witcher: Blood Origin will premiere on Netflix on December 25, 2022. The Witcher Season 3 has not yet been given an official release date. However, the series is set to return sometime in 2023. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
