The Witcher Series Gets Official Synopsis, 2019 Release Window

The Witcher series is coming to Netflix next year. Show writer Lauren S. Hissrich has just confirmed that the highly anticipated live-action adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski's novels and the CD Projekt Red games has received a release window as well as an official synopsis.

Hissrich recently shared the release window and official synopsis on her Twitter page along with a caption thanking Netflix. Check it out below.

The synopsis reads as follows:

"The witcher Geralt, a mutated monster hunter, struggles to find his place in a world where people often prove more wicked than beasts."

It certainly looks like Netflix is eager to move forward with the series as soon as possible. Although the cast only lists Justice League star Henry Cavill, there have been reports that a casting call is already looking for the show's Ciri. Interestingly, it looks like Geralt's young ward could be played by an actress of color. Naturally, fans have a lot to say about the matter but Hissrich has yet to confirm or deny the news.

It's still too early to tell how this will turn out but things are certainly looking good for the series. Sapkowski is reportedly part of the creative team and Hissrich isn't slowing down with the updates. Production for The Witcher could start immediately once Cavill's co-stars have been cast and we could hear about it within the next few weeks.
