The Witcher Season 5 Officially Confirmed With Liam Hemsworth

The third season of The Witcher has not yet aired but Netflix is already looking towards the future. The Witcher Season 5 has just been confirmed and Liam Hemsworth is set to film the fifth season back-to-back with Season 4.

The confirmation comes from casting director Sophie Holland who discussed the plans for the fourth season. In an interview with Deadline, Holland revealed that Liam Hemsworth will be a very busy man soon.

"We’re just about to start filming on Season 4 with Liam Hemsworth and there will be a short gap then we go straight into Season 5," she said.

This is an interesting update considering that there were initial plans to film the fourth and fifth seasons one after the other. In addition to that, the future of the show was uncertain as there were reports that it wouldn't go further beyond Season 4.

However, it looks like Netflix is confident in the series and its new lead star. Back in October 2022, Liam Hemsworth was confirmed to take over as Geralt of Rivia after Henry Cavill announced his departure from the show.

Henry Cavill's final performance as the White Wolf will be in the third season which he has already completed filming by the time his departure was announced. Hemsworth is then set to play the character in Seasons 4 and 5.

Although it's the last season for Cavill, it's also an interesting one for Geralt as he begins to enjoy fatherhood.

“It’s quite lovely to see that underneath this cynical, acerbic, walls-up kind of nature is actually a very loving core,” he said.

The first part of The Witcher Season 3 will premiere on Netflix on June 29, 2023. The second volume of the third season is scheduled to begin streaming on July 27, 2023.
