The Witcher Petition to Bring Back Henry Cavill as Geralt Reaches 117K Signatures

There is little doubt that most people are still devastated about Henry Cavill's departure from The Witcher. That has led to fans starting a petition calling on Netflix to bring back the Black Adam star to continue playing Geralt of Rivia. Since it was started, the petition has gained over 115,000 signatures.

The petition on Change.org points out how Andrzej Sapkowski was pleased with Henry Cavill's portrayal of Geralt of Rivia and declared that the Justice League actor will be the White Wolf "forever." Unfortunately, this was changed after Cavill confirmed his departure from The Witcher ahead of Season 4. Nevertheless, the petition demands that Netflix reinstate Cavill as Geralt for future seasons.

Henry Cavill has issued a statement regarding his departure from the Netflix series.

“My journey as Geralt of Rivia has been filled with both monsters and adventures, and alas, I will be laying down my medallion and my swords for Season 4,” Cavill said. He then imparted some kind words to the new actor.

“In my stead, the fantastic Mr Liam Hemsworth will be taking up the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest of literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time spent embodying Geralt and enthusiasm to see Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced of men. Liam, good sir, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, enjoy diving in and seeing what you can find,” Cavill added.

Although Cavill will not be back in the fourth season, fans can still expect to see him as Geralt in The Witcher Season 3, which is set to premiere on Netflix in 2023.
