We all know Geralt of Rivia is tough and it looks like he gets it from his mentor. The Witcher prequel anime Nightmare of the Witch just got a new trailer and it teases Vesemir leading his fellow Witchers into a major battle.
The trailer for The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf opens with a question people have been asking for some time now: "Do you know what's involved in making a witcher?" Two young candidates discuss what will happen to them now that they have been chosen to become hexers.
"They're going to poison us," one boy reveals. "They'll kill us, then bring us back but we won't be normal." His companion is a bit more optimistic, stating that he believes he will be stronger after the process and will have nothing to be scared about anymore.
That optimistic young boy grows up to become Vesemir, and he certainly enjoys getting coin for slaying monsters. This doesn't impress the elf Filavandrel who believes that Witchers should use their skills for more than just coin.
Perhaps Vesemir will soon understand what Fil is talking about. As he is commissioned to kill a monster in the woods outside of Ard Carraigh, he is joined by a witch who serves as his chaperone. From there, things take a surprising turn for Vesemir.

Nightmare of the Wolf puts the focus on the young Vesemir before he became the mentor of Geralt of Rivia. The anime series is set to explore the Witcher's own backstory and how he came to be the father figure to Geralt and several other Witchers.
The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf stars Theo James as Vesemir. The anime series will premiere on Netflix on August 23, 2021. The Witcher Season 2 will then air later in the year.
