CD Projekt Red will be releasing a new version of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt which makes the game available for both Xbox Series X|S and PS5. The next-gen update will be for the Xbox series and the PlayStation 5 and it would be released later this year.
During the CD Projekt Red's Group Strategy Update, the announcement about the next-gen update was discussed and it was confirmed by the public relations manager of the company, Radek Grabowski. There would also be no additional cost for the next-get upgrade for those who already have the game via PS4, PC, and Xbox One.
The Witcher: Wild Hunt follows the adventure of Geralt of Rivia in search of his missing daughter, Ciri, who is in great danger as she is being tracked down by Wild Hunt, evil and supernatural being. The game was released in 2015 following The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings in 2011 and The Witcher in 2007. All these games were based and inspired on the novels of Andrzej Sapkowski, the Witcher novel series.
One of the most popular role-playing games in existence, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is considered the best game among the three games under the franchise. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won the Best RPG game of the year, besting all the other games in the 2015's Game of the Year Awards. The Witcher 3, along with The Last of Us Part II, received the title of being the most-awarded video game to ever exist.
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Next-Gen Upgrade will be available to Xbox Series X|S and PS5 in late 2021.
