Iain De Caestecker as Arthur Pendragon
Iain De Caestecker stars as Arthur Pendragon, the illegitimate son of King Uther who has been exiled after the King blames him for the death of his son and heir to the throne, Prince Mordred.
Arthur is known to have never lost a battle and has beaten every enemy. Others say that Arthur kills like no man they’ve ever seen. And while he is a bastard, he is a man other men follow.
Iain De Caestecker is known for his role as Leopold Fitz/The Doctor in Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. He also starred in Ryan Gosling’s directorial debut Lost River and the film Overlord.
Jordan Alexandra as Guinevere
Jordan Alexandra joins The Winter King cast as Guinevere, Arthur’s wife. She’s ambitious and seeks power and a high social status. Jordan Alexandra has appeared in minor roles in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and Bridgerton.
Stuart Campbell as Derfel Cadarn
Stuart Campbell stars as Derfel Cadarn in The Winter King. Derfel is a Saxon who was saved by Arthur when he was a child. Arthur takes him to Merlin to be treated, and Derfel grows up becoming a part of Avalon. Derfel follows Arthur as he believes that he can save the realm.
Stuart Campbell has appeared in various shows, including Chemistry of Death, SAS: Rogue Heroes, and Outlander.
Ellie James as Nimue
Ellie James joins the cast of The Winter King as Nimue, a druidess who can see the gods. She was saved by Merlin and raised to become the most powerful druid Dumnonia has ever known.
She and Derfel are in love, but they are forbidden from being together because Nimue must not wed and have children, or she will lose her gifts.
Ellie James has appeared in I May Destroy You and The Lost Daughter.
Daniel Ings as Owain
Daniel Ings stars as Owain, the champion of Dumnonia and Arthur’s friend. He believes that they cannot defeat the Saxons without Arthur.
Daniel Ings has starred in Netflix’s The Crown and Lovesick. He is set to appear in the upcoming Marvel movie, The Marvels.
Valene Kane as Morgan
Valene Kane joins The Winter King cast as Morgan, Arthur’s half-sister and another illegitimate child of King Uther. She’s someone who’s not afraid to speak her mind. She’s also a student of Merlin.
Valene Kane has appeared in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Gangs of London, The Other Guy, and The Fall.
Simon Merrells as Gundleus
Simon Merrells joins the cast as Gundleus, a villain in The Winter King. Gundleus is King of rival kingdom Siluria. He is a ruthless leader who slaughters anyone who gets in his way.
Simon Merrells has starred in other historical fiction series, namely Spartacus: War of the Damned and Knightfall. He also appeared in The CW’s Legends of Tomorrow and The Tomorrow People, and Amazon Studios’ The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and Good Omens.
Nathaniel Martello-White as Merlin
Nathaniel Martello-White plays Merlin, a popular character in Arthurian legend. In The Winter King, Merlin is a politician, the most revered druid in Britain, and the one who raised Arthur. He is unafraid to share his thoughts and opinions with Uther because he answers only to his gods.
Nathaniel Martello-White has appeared in Small Axe, Misfits, Moonwalkers, and Law & Order: UK.
Eddie Marsan as Uther
Eddie Marsan stars as Uther, the High King of all Dumnonia. He is a respected ruler, as he has proven himself in battle. He is known to be a great warrior and was dubbed “The Great Red Dragon”.
Eddie Marsan has appeared in numerous films, which include Mission: Impossible III, V for Vendetta, Sherlock Holmes, The World's End, and Deadpool 2.
Andrew Gower as Sansum
Andrew Gower joins The Winter King cast as Sansum, “Bishop Bedwin’s fanatical novice, who holds great sway over the Christians of Britain” (via Deadline). Andrew Gower is known for his roles in Being Human, Outlander, and Carnival Row.
