Ahead of The White Lotus Season 2’s release, creator Mike White is already discussing the possibility of having a third season. He already has an idea of where The White Lotus Season 3 may go and its returning cast.
The White Lotus Season 2 will feature a new location, different from where the first season began. By the looks of it, The White Lotus Season 3 will also be set in another place.
The White Lotus Season 3’s Possible New Location
At the red carpet event for the show’s upcoming second season, White told Deadline about the possible third season’s potential location.
"We just turned in our last episode to the network yesterday, so it’s hard to think about the next race. But if we did, I think it’d be fun to maybe go to a whole different continent,” he said. “You know, we did Europe, and maybe Asia, something crazy like that, that would be fun.”
He also hinted at the familiar face fans will again see in The White Lotus Season 3.
“Jennifer is my friend, and everybody loved her in the first season, and I was like, ‘I can’t go to Italy without Jennifer.’ And maybe that’s still the case,” he continued. “Like, maybe you can’t go to Japan without Jennifer, either. There are so many fun actors we’ve worked with so far, so it’s just kind of like who’s available."
The White Lotus Season 2’s Move to Italy
The show’s first season was set in Hawaii, while it moved to Italy for the second season. It would follow a new group of travelers on the peninsula with only Jennifer Coolidge, who plays Tanya McQuoid, as the original cast.

She will be joined by the new faces Aubrey Plaza, Will Sharpe, Sabrina Impacciatore, Theo James, Meghann Fahy, F. Murray Abraham, Adam DiMarco, Tom Hollander, Michael Imperioli, Haley Lu Richardson, Leo Woodall, Beatrice Grannó, and Simona Tabasco.
Can The White Lotus Feature Different Places Every Season?
White’s plans for The White Lotus Season 3 hint that the show can be set in different places every season.
He earlier said that The White Lotus Season 2 could feature a story he likened to a Bilderberg Meeting, which would explore the power dynamics.

However, it seemed not to fit its new location in Italy. So, if he decides to change that concept, the show may introduce wealthy characters and political figures whose real agendas differ from just taking a vacation.
The White Lotus Season 2 will premiere on Sunday, October 30.
