The Walking Dead’s Season 7 Second Half Sees the Smile That Pulls Through

Happy times in The Walking Dead can be counted way easier than the many kills and thrills. But if showrunner Scott M. Gimple can tease something, it would be that we will be seeing a Rick Grimes smile once more.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Gimple teased that it's the start of the uphill climb following the intense downfall.

"It propels us into a very different half season from the one before it. Before the end of that very first episode back, you will see Rick Grimes smile."

Whether or not this is a smile of genuine happiness after all they've been through, or perhaps one that screams success in a more sinister manner, we have to see. I'm crossing my fingers that it's the former, of course.

Previously, we learned that actor had even danced a jig when he read the script for the final episode of the latest season. Perhaps this is where we'll be seeing that smile, eh?

The second half will be seeing the all-out war, and according to Gimple, it features a cast and a crew from behind the camera directing the whole thing. Angela Kang has penned the premiere and Greg Nicotero is on the director's chair.

Here's hoping that that premiere episode will be followed by a lot of intense other episodes. The Walking Dead will return on AMC on Feb. 12.
