The Upside Down Creeps Slowly In Stranger Things Season 3 Poster

Stranger Things fans are in for a New Year treat. Not only did Netflix drop an eerie Stranger Things New Year's Eve countdown video from a news channel in Hawkins, Indiana, but the streaming company also released a brand new poster announcing the release date of the series' third season.

The Stranger Things poster which was shared on Netflix's Instagram account celebrates July 4 of the year 1985, which coincidentally, serves as the release date of the series' latest batch of episodes. The art on the promotional image is reminiscent of vintage paperback horror books from the 80s as well as the cover art for popular 90s horror book series, Goosebumps.

Check out the poster down here:

Sparks are certainly flying with Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike (Finn Wolfhard) holding hands at the very center of the image but fans can still see the Upside Down looming in the background, its veins slithering at the sides of the image. Looks like there's going to be a whole lot of darkness creeping back for Dustin (Gaten Matarazzo), Lucas (Caleb McLaughlin), Will (Noah Schnapp), Max (Sadie Sink) and the rest of the gang.

Of course, this shouldn't come as a surprise for the Stranger Things fanbase. While Eleven did manage to close the tear to the Upside Down during the second season of the series, the final scene of the season showed the dark dimension still hovering over Hawkins, Indiana. The darkness isn't done with the town just yet and we definitely can't wait to see the team deal with the Upside Down again.

Stranger Things season 3 premieres July 4, 2019.
