Netflix just greeted the new year with a bang by releasing a dark and definitely creepy Stranger Things' New Year's Eve countdown trailer.
Tuning in to a news channel from Hawkins, Indiana the trailer features footage from Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve from 1985.
Televised by Starcourt Mall (the same mall which had Joe Keery's Steve working hard as an ice cream sailor in a StrangerThings season 3 Trailer teaser), the New Year countdown cuts between clips to feature eerie clips of binary numbers, computer codes, and distorted images. It's pretty creepy in its own right, and while the trailer doesn't show off new footage from the series, it does announce Stranger Things' season 3 release date on July 4 this year.
That's pretty big news for Stranger Things fans. Netflix was pretty mum about the release date last year saying that the latest batch of episodes would arrive sometime in 2019. Everyone's been eager to know just when season 3 would drop. Sure, season 2 might have ended on a light note with the Strangers Things kids attending the Snow Ball – a very special hooray for Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) and Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard) – but the Upside Down isn't done with Indiana, Hawkins just yet.
Right now there's very little information about what's to come in the new season. However, some of Stranger Things' stars have opened up about what they want to see in the new season with Millie Bobby Brown hoping to see Hopper (David Harbour) and Joyce (Winona Ryder) finally getting together.
