The X-Men MCU reboot director, Jake Schreier, is setting the record straight on the casting rumors circulating online about the upcoming movie.

For the past several months (or even years), we've been hearing a lot of rumors and speculation from scoopers on social media about actors who are allegedly in talks or being eyed by Marvel Studios to be cast as the mutants in the MCU. So far, no official casting has been announced, but the rumors online have persisted.

In an interview with Collider at the Gotham Television Awards, Schreier was asked whether the casting process for the upcoming MCU reboot of X-Men had already started.

He confirmed that conversations are happening, but he disputed the rumors circulating online surrounding the casting, and none of them have come from their "room."

"We’re talking about things, we’re thinking about things. I can tell you most of the stuff that gets posted online, I don’t know where it comes from, because it doesn’t come from our room, and it isn't what we're discussing. But there is a process," the director said.

It should be noted that while the filmmaker is disputing "most" of the rumors we've been hearing online, we have confirmation that "conversations" have started regarding the movie's casting

Given that the development process is still ongoing, it might take a while before we hear more news on the casting, so we have to stay tuned for future announcements.

Nevertheless, this is a promising update for fans who have been waiting for news surrounding the highly anticipated reboot of X-Men. For now, fans can expect the return of the Fox-era X-Men actors in Avengers: Doomsday.

So far, plot details for the X-Men MCU reboot are still under wraps, and it is expected to take place sometime after Avengers: Secret Wars.

Thunderbolts* director Jake Schreier is currently attached to helm the project. Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo are writing the screenplay.

Last year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave a tease on what fans should expect from their reboot of the X-Men property.

"We had a great experience with him on Thunderbolts*. And if you saw that movie, what he did with those character interactions, he also has his pulse on, shall we say, a younger demographic," he said.

"He’s younger than me for sure, but he’s tapped into that in a way that I think was important for Thunderbolts*, much more important for X-Men. Because X-Men, as it was in the comics, will be a very youth-oriented, focused, and cast movie."
