- Quick Answer: Writers Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo are drafting the MCU X-Men reboot, focusing on the interpersonal drama and ideology that defined the original comics.
The MCU reboot of X-Men just got an upgrade, as they have tapped the Beef creator and The Bear co-showrunner to write the screenplay for the film.
Fans have been looking forward to the official debut of the beloved mutant superhero team in the MCU. While the version of the Fox universe characters has been brought back, there is still a lot of anticipation for the new generation that will be part of the main MCU and how they will be introduced in the future saga.
Who Is Writing the Screenplay for X-Men MCU Reboot?

In a recent interview with Collider, X-Men reboot director Jake Schreier confirmed that Beef creator Lee Sung Jin and The Bear co-showrunner Joanna Calo are writing the screenplay.
Both of them previously worked on the screenplay for Thunderbolts*, which Schreier also directed.
"We're still developing. You know, one of the exciting things that's tying into Beef is that Sonny [Lee Sung Jin] and Joanna [Calo] both worked on this season. Obviously, I mean, Beef is Sonny's show, and Joanna worked on the season as well, and we worked together on Season 1 of Beef and on Thunderbolts*. They have come in and are working on a draft right now, which is really exciting to be able to put that group of people together again," Schreier revealed.
The director also praised Sonny's writing in Beef and how he has "the ability to take small interpersonal dynamics and explode them into a much larger canvas."
"When you go back and read X-Men [comics], there's ideology but also interpersonal drama, almost of a soap opera quality. Having writers who understand both how to drive ideology from personal stakes, if we get that right, that's what will feel most honest to what X-Men can be," he added.
When it comes to the secrecy surrounding the project, Schreier said, "We'll film in a little black box and never leave. But seriously, the studio has experience with this. We've talked about it, but I can't say anymore."
What to Expect in the X-Men MCU Reboot

So far, plot details regarding the X-Men MCU reboot are still being kept under wraps, and it is expected to take place some time after Avengers: Secret Wars.
No casting has been made yet for the mutant characters, despite the many rumors and alleged scoops that have surfaced around the internet.
Last year, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige gave a tease on what fans should expect from their reboot of the X-Men property.
"We had a great experience with him on Thunderbolts*. And if you saw that movie, what he did with those character interactions, he also has his pulse on, shall we say, a younger demographic," he said.
"He’s younger than me for sure, but he’s tapped into that in a way that I think was important for Thunderbolts*, much more important for X-Men. Because X-Men, as it was in the comics, will be a very youth-oriented, focused, and cast movie."
