The Summer I Turned Pretty Release Date: When Will the Series Come Out on Amazon Prime?
The Summer I Turned Pretty debuted on Amazon Prime on June 17, 2022. The author of the book that inspired the series released a movie trilogy with Netflix earlier, but this time around, the book adaptation will be turned into a series instead.
The series was filmed from spring 2021 and continued principal photography to fall 2021. Post-production was then completed for The Summer I Turned Pretty until early in 2022.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Cast: Who are the Actors Included in the Series?
Amazon Prime’s new series, The Summer I Turned Pretty, will feature fresh new faces, keeping up with the tradition set by the author’s earlier book adaptations (the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy in Netflix). The lead role of Belly will be played by nineteen-year-old newcomer Lola Tung. She will be paired with Christopher Briney who will be playing the pensive Conrad. Briney will also star in another movie called Dali Land, starring alongside big industry names like Ben Kingsley and Ezra Miller.
The two main stars of the show will be joined by an excellent supporting cast including Gavin Caselegno who will play Jeremiah, Conrad’s younger brother. The other actors who are part of the show are David Iacono as Cam and Rachel Blanchard as Susannah. We will also see Jackie Chung as Laurel, Sean Kaufman as Steven, Minni Mills as Shayla, and Tom Everett Scott as Adam Fisher.
The cast will also include Alfred Narciso as Cleveland, Summer Madison as Nicole, and Rain Spencer as Taylor.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Crew: Who are the Creatives Behind the Scenes?
The series is based on the book with the same title written by Jenny Han. Han also co-wrote the screenplay for all of the episodes of the series, working with other writers for select episodes like Becca Gleason, Marty Scott, Gabrielle G. Stanton, and Jenny Zang.
There are three confirmed directors for The Summer I Turned Pretty. Erica Dunton will be directing three episodes while Jeff Chan and Jesse Peretz will be directing two episodes each.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Plot: What Will be the Plot of the Amazon Prime Series?
The Summer I Turned Pretty is an original series based on the book written by Jenny Han. The story revolves around Belly, whose family spends the summer vacation with their family friends for as long as she can remember. Things are different for Belly this year, for she has begun to grow into a young teenager who finally understands that she is pretty. The boys around her, who only used to see her as a little sister, finally notice the change and start to see her in a different light.
Amazon Prime released an official synopsis for the series:
The Summer I Turned Pretty is a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship. It is a coming-of-age story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer.
If the show stays true to the book it is based on, we will get to know Belly better throughout the series, creating a foundation that will hopefully expand to season 2 and season 3. The Summer I Turned Pretty is part of a trilogy, and if things go as planned, the franchise may grow to be as big as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.
