Conrad and Belly

The Summer I Turned Pretty is an original series based on the book written by Jenny Han. The story revolves around Belly, whose family spends the summer vacation with their family friends for as long as she can remember. Things are different for Belly this year, for she has begun to grow into a young teenager who finally understands that she is pretty. The boys around her, who only used to see her as a little sister, finally notice the change and start to see her in a different light.

Amazon Prime released an official synopsis for the series:

The Summer I Turned Pretty is a multigenerational drama that hinges on a love triangle between one girl and two brothers, the ever-evolving relationship between mothers and their children, and the enduring power of strong female friendship. It is a coming-of-age story about first love, first heartbreak, and the magic of that one perfect summer.

If the show stays true to the book it is based on, we will get to know Belly better throughout the series, creating a foundation that will hopefully expand to season 2 and season 3. The Summer I Turned Pretty is part of a trilogy, and if things go as planned, the franchise may grow to be as big as To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before.

The Summer I Turned Pretty Trailer: Is There a Trailer for The Summer I Turned Pretty?
