In an upcoming episode of The Rookie Season 5, the fan-favorite couple "Chenford," aka Tim Bradford and Lucy Chen, will face challenges.
Tim and Lucy's first Valentine's Day as a couple is featured in the promo video for The Rookie, Season 5, Episode 16. And Angela Lopez comments, "First Valentine's Day. You should be basking in the glow of new love." The next shot hints at Tim's gift to Lucy by showing him putting a necklace on her.
Despite the affectionate demeanor, we are aware that not everything in Exposed will proceed as planned. John Nolan says to Celina Juarez, his rookie, "You don't know? Valentine's Day is the most dangerous day of the year," in the trailer.

The Rookie Season 5 Hints At Rough Patch for Tim & Lucy
When President Joe Biden's State of the Union speech unexpectedly prompted The Rookie to take a break on Feb. 7, the episode scheduled to air on Valentine's Day was delayed by one week.
The synopsis for the next episode reads, "The team must stop a militia from detonating a highly combustible truck in their possession. Meanwhile, Officers Nolan, Thorson, Juarez, and Detective Harper search for three men who may have been exposed to Ebola and detain them for quarantine."
Although the hour's description leaves much to be desired in terms of romance, the preview partially compensates.
During an interview with TV Insider [via Reddit], Eric Winter, who portrays Tim on The Rookie, hinted that Tim and Lucy might experience some difficulties in Season 5.
Winter stated that "Chenford" is not "all cotton candy and rainbows." In fact, according to the actor, their first Valentine's Day together is "not an easy one."

Something About Lucy
Tim learns in The Rookie Season 5 Episode 16 what Lucy did behind his back. The new revelation, according to Winter, "ruffles Tim's feathers quite a bit." Thus, their Valentine's Day preparations may be derailed.
Yet, Winter noted that the resolution to Tim and Lucy's spat is "not what you'd expect."
Like with most relationships, however, fighting and making up adds flavor. The Rookie Season 5 Episode 16 airs on ABC on Feb. 21 at 8:00 PM ET.
