The Rock Plays Himself in Comedy/Biopic Fighting with My Family

Dwayne Johnson may be an action movie star now, but everyone born in the 90s knows him as The Rock. As it turns out, Johnson is going to be embracing his wrestling roots once again with this comedy biopic called Fighting with my Family, and it focuses on the story of ex-lady wrestler Paige.

Johnson shared the trailer with this caption:

In 2012 I watched a documentary about a young, unknown British female pro wrestler & her wonderfully crazy family. I loved it! It was a story that my @SevenBucksProd had to tell. That girl @RealPaigeWWE would go on to help redefine @WWE women's wrestling. #FightingWithMyFamily

Just in case you're curious, the documentary is called The Wrestlers: Fighting with My Family and it's up on Youtube right now. The story focuses on the entire Knight family and their love for wrestling. I guess the biopic is more on Paige as the main character chronicling her rise in the WWE.

I guess by now, you should brace yourself to expect this movie not to be too accurate; such is the case with most biopic films. Just look at all the complainers who checked out Bohemian Rhapsody.

The movie has actually gathered a pretty impressive cast. Besides The Rock playing himself, you also have the likes of Nick Frost and Lena Headey playing the Knight parents. The movie also has Vince Vaughn appearing as well with writer/director Stephen Merchant also set to play a role.

No doubt there's also going to be some appearances from some WWE wrestlers, but I bet that was already a given counting the premise. Heck, The Rock is playing himself.

A former wrestler and his family make a living performing at small venues around the country while his kids dream of joining World Wrestling Entertainment.

Catch Fighting with My Family in theaters March 1, 2019.
