Since The Rise of Skywalker will bring forth the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga, some Star Wars fans are curious if they would ever get Special Editions for the sequel trilogy. And although it seems likes it's a bit too early to ask, it looks like director J.J. Abrams already has a firm answer.

In a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Abrams revealed that a special edition isn't something he has in mind. "I don't think so," he answered. "I respect anyone who feels like they want to go back and adjust and add," he added. The director pointed out that he "gets that" but he feels like "it's not the way" he thinks about projects. He thinks that if you're already done with "a thing," "that's what it is."

That being said, he did state that he might "feel different" in 20 years or so, but he admitted that he can't really "imagine feeling different about it."

For Star Wars fans who are hoping for Special Editions for the sequel trilogy, you could still get your hopes up but Abrams is sounding pretty adamant about his decision. But judging from what he mentioned, the idea's not completely off the table.

And while fans would get to see some unseen footage if a Special Edition was to be released in the near future, the director's thoughts about it might be for the better considering the number of debates around these releases, especially on the prequel trilogy.
