Kaley Ronayne Now The Resident Season 6 Regular
Ronayne joined the series during the fifth season premiere. She played the role of Cade, a double-board certified ICU and ER doctor.
She quickly became the love interest of Conrad, who was still mourning the death of his wife, Nic (Emily VanCamp), after dying in a car accident.
Now that fans will see more of Cade, can she replace Nic in Conrad’s life in The Resident Season 6?
The Resident Season 6 to Solve the Fifth Season Cliffhanger
Showrunner Andrew Chapman told TVLine that the upcoming season would solve the love triangle of Conrad, Cade and Billie.
“We just loved the idea that, at the end of [Season 5], Conrad would be ready to move on, but we weren’t going to make that choice yet,” he said. “Making the choice is for the premiere of next season, and in fact, we have an idea laid out of what exactly it will be and how we’ll lay it out to the audience.”
It can’t be denied that there’s romantic chemistry between Cade and Conrad. However, there’s also something between him and Billie.
Now that he seems ready to move on, who will be the lucky girl he will choose?

Conrad’s Surprising Decision in The Resident Season 6
Chapman revealed Conrad’s pick in The Resident Season 6 would be surprising.
“It’s a really complicated decision. Both of these women have pros and cons in the world of relationships,” he told TV Insider. “Cade is very similar to Conrad and a risk-taker and an action figure. Billie is maternal and warm and she’s already been a mother and she’s gone through so much with her estranged son and coming back from that.”
Conrad is surely having a hard time choosing between these two as they both have a place in his heart.
“They also have, like all of us, their character flaws that he would have to live with, so I think he’s gone through those things and has very strong feelings and you’ll see them in the beginning of Season 6,” Chapman added.

Cade’s Future in The Resident Season 6
If Conrad doesn’t choose Cade, she will probably have to face more life conflicts now that her father is at Chastain Park Memorial Hospital.
“We love the soap between [Ian] and Cade, father and daughter working in the same hospital. We think that’s really fun and interesting,” Chapman stated.
“He plays the sort of narcissistic ambitious surgeon so well [and] we have little hints of character flaws. He’s had a disease, but he also has an issue with painkillers,” he continued. “There’s all kinds of juicy stuff that we can play going forward. Is this a guy who has addiction issues and will he be the superstar doctor moving forward?”
Aside from Ronayne, her on-screen dad, Andrew McCarthy, is promoted as the new season’s series regular.
The Resident Season 6 Release Date
The Resident Season 6 will be out on Tuesday, September 20 at 8/7 c on Fox.
