The Punisher Star Shares Awesome Stardust Inside Joke With Charlie Cox

Ben Barnes has undoubtedly played a lot of memorable characters in his impressive career, from the titular Prince Caspian in the Chronicles of Narnia films to the villainous Darkling in Shadow and Bone. However, there is one role that continues to be his clear favorite. The star of The Punisher has just shared an awesome inside joke he shares with Daredevil: Born Again's Charlie Cox, who he first worked with in Stardust.

In 2007, Ben Barnes landed his first film role as the young Dunstan Thorn in Stardust, the live-action movie adaptation of the Neil Gaiman novel. The film also happened to be the first major role for Charlie Cox, who portrayed Dunstan's son Tristan (Tristran in the book) Thorn, and that's something that Barnes enjoys reminding the Daredevil actor.

Ben Barnes recently spoke to Collider while promoting Shadow and Bone Season 2 and he reflected on working on the Marvel Netflix series The Punisher.

"I felt like it was at the time, to be honest. Marvel was involved. I felt like, 'Oh, I get to play a Marvel villain,' which was cool. What channel it was on didn’t really affect my experience of it. I’m just sad that he died because otherwise there could be a little reunion," Barnes said. He then confirmed that he continues to be good friends with The Defenders actor Charlie Cox and still jokes about their first movie roles together.

"Charlie Cox is one of my closest pals. We did one of our first jobs together with Stardust, and I like to remind him that I am his daddy," Barnes said.

They certainly make for a handsome father-and-son team and although it's unlikely that Barnes' Billy Russo will show up in Daredevil: Born Again, we're hoping that Barnes and Cox will get to work together again in the future.

All eight episodes of Shadow and Bone Season 2 are now streaming on Netflix.
