The Predator Alternate Ending Featured Ellen Ripley Shocking Return

The conclusion of The Predator certainly teased at the possibility of a sequel. However, that hint may have been very different if 20th Century Fox decided to go with one of the alternate endings. After all, one particular conclusion confirmed the return of Ellen Ripley.

We already know that Ripley sacrificed herself in Alien 3 although she was later cloned in Alien: Resurrection. Nevertheless, The Predator appeared to have plans for Ripley's return. The alternate ending was revealed by effects artist Yuri Everson on his official Instagram account. Take a look at the image below.

"We shot 3 different endings for #thepredator, all variations of a "Predator Killer". This unused ending was Predator Killer Ripley wearing the breather mask we created for the film. You can see her name tag there on her costume. Breanna Watkins played Ripley under the mask instead of Sigourney Weaver. The moving 'fingers' and 'tail' were deemed too Facehugger-like on the day and were cut and removed by someone..." Everson wrote.

This is certainly a well-thought idea considering that the breather mask even boasts of the Weyland-Yutani logo. However, there is a good reason why The Predator may have decided to scrap it. After all, the film appears to be set in the present while Ripley was alive in 2122. The time difference would have been too complicated to explain if they introduced Ripley in the movie.

It is still unclear if The Predator will get a sequel due to mixed reviews. We'll keep you posted in case Ripley does decide to take on the Predator sometime in the future.
