The Original Thor Becomes Worthy Again This June

Guess who's back? Back again?

Thor (Odinson) is back. Call a disenfranchised friend who stopped reading Jason Aaron's brilliant run because Jane Foster became Thor.

Marvel has announced that the disgraced Odinson will become Thor once again this June, after the tragic Death of Thor event, which will result in the death of Jane Foster. Jason Aaron will continue his run as Asgard's main writer, joined by his Weirdworld artistic collaborator Mike del Mundo, fresh off of his stints from Avengers and Astonishing X-Men.

If that creative team wasn't exciting enough, they've also confirmed that Thor will be taking on X-Men villain Juggernaut. Excited yet?

Here's the synopsis for the first arc:

THOR #1, written by Jason Aaron with art by Mike Del Mundo, sees the start of a new mission for the God of Thunder. The artifacts of Asgard have been scattered across the Earth, and to reclaim them, Thor will have to face some ugly truths…Like the production cost of hundreds of new hammers! And he'll need every last one of them if he's going to stop the unstoppable when none other than the Juggernaut joins the fray.

Aaron has been writing Thor for six years now, starting with Thor: God of Thunder during the Marvel NOW era and continuing with the relaunched Thor that starred Jane Foster, which was relaunched again as The Mighty Thor. During Marvel Legacy, the series was renumbered to a massive 700th issue, which teased the current War of the Realms story. As part of the Fresh Start relaunch, the series will once again be called Thor.

The Mighty Thor #700hinted towards Odinson becoming worthy again but with a few changes. He would have a golden hammer and arm, which can be seen in Mike del Mundo's glorious cover. Aaron has always been planning ahead for his current Thor run and it will be interesting to see what the future holds for this relaunch.

Thor #1 comes out on June 13.
