The New Mutants Star Maisie Williams was Concerned About Her Accent

Game of Thrones star Maisie Williams might look pretty good in the X-Men spinoff movie The New Mutants, however, the actress was really concerned about getting her Scottish accent right for the horror comic book movie.

Speaking in a recently released interview with Digital Spy to help promote her new movie, The New Mutants actress Maisie Williams explained how she was worried that her Scottish accent in the movie might sound a bit rough on the ears. Williams plays Rahn Sinclair in the superhero movie. To comic book fans, the character is better known as Wolfsbane.

The Game of Thrones star revealed how director Josh Boone tried to write her character into an American to make it easier for her dialogue, however, Williams wanted an authentic Scottish accent for her character in the movie.

"I was written very American because (director Josh Boone) wrote it and he's been very easy whenever we wanted to change dialogue. I didn't want to make it cringe and be saying ‘aye' every now and then. I just wanted to make it an authentic accent," Williams told the entertainment news outlet.

Williams really tried to give Wolfsbane an accent taken from the highlands in Scotland, revealing how she even tried to start thinking in the Scottish accent to get into the right mental state to play the role that she was given in New Mutants. According to the actress she slips sometimes and makes her accent a little bit from Glasgow, however, Williams hopes that only viewers from Scotland might be able to pick up on those little mistakes.

The New Mutants is set for release on April 3, 2020.
