Initially set for release back in 2018, Josh Boone's The New Mutants will finally make its much-anticipated debut later this week. Aside from being able to helm a movie following these young group of mutants, Boone is actually also interested in making a Spider-Man film.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Boone looks to be enthusiastic about whichever story or character he'd have the opportunity to make for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, he did reveal that he wants to make a film featuring the beloved wall-crawler.

"I don't know, man. I'd look at any opportunity that came my way," he said. "Our favorite character growing up, more than any other, was always Spider-Man. So, we'll be like everybody else, ‘We wish we could make a Spider-Man movie!'"

Boone helming The New Mutants has given him the experience to work with young protagonists with amazing abilities, which essentially makes him a good candidate to helm a Spider-Man movie, especially featuring that of Tom Holland's Peter Parker.

That said, all of Spidey's solo movies have been directed by Jon Watts so far, who is also expected to return to helm the untitled third Spider-Man film. Should Boone be involved in a Spider-Man MCU project in the future, there'll surely be plenty of storylines he could find inspiration from for it.

For now, fans are certainly looking forward to the release of The New Mutants, set to arrive in theaters this August 28.
