Netflix released a save the date video for the titles that are arriving on the streaming platform this year and that includes The Mother which will be coming out on May 12, 2023, starring Jennifer Lopez as the titular character.

The Mother is directed by Niki Caro. The screenplay of the movie is written by Misha Green, Andrea Berloff, and Peter Craig, with the story of Green. The cinematography is helmed Ben Seresin, and the editing is under David Coulson.
The producers of The Mother are Elaine Goldsmith-Thomas, Jennifer Lopez, Benny Medina, Roy Lee, Marc Evans, Miri Yoon, and Misha Green, under the production companies of Nuyorican Productions and Vertigo Entertainment. Netflix will distribute it internationally.
The filming of The Mother started in October 2021 but it was put to halt when a COVID variant outbreak suspended the principal photography in January 2022. They resumed in March 2022 on the island of Gran Canaria in Cuba.

The plot is expected to revolve around how Jennifer Lopez's character became an assassin, how she went into hiding, and what lengths would she be willing to go to for the safety of her daughter who becomes endangered for who she became in life.
