The Matrix 4 Star Jessica Henwick Opens up About Losing Star Wars Role to Daisy Ridley

There is little doubt that Jessica Henwick is known for several memorable roles including Nymeria Sand in Game of Thrones and Colleen Wing in Iron Fist. But did you know that the Matrix 4 actress actually tried out for the role of Rey in the Star Wars sequel trilogy films? Interestingly, Henwick has opened up about losing the coveted part to Daisy Ridley.

In an interview with NME, Henwick admitted that she tried out for the lead role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens and was actually close to landing the part as she went through a "very long, very arduous" process for almost six months. With that in mind, the Love and Monsters star pointed out that it was difficult for her to deal with being passed on for the role.

"It was very hard for me when I didn't get it," Henwick said. However, she was also quick to say that she immediately agreed with the decision to cast Ridley.

"I see why – Daisy did such an incredible job and it was 100 per cent her journey to make. It wasn't meant for me – my life would have been completely different!" Henwick said.
